Changing your flooring can give your room a fresh new feel and using laminate flooring is one of the quicker methods of achieving this feel.
Various laminate flooring styles and designs can be found at Lowe's, The
Home Depot, or at your favorite flooring store. I have a very
knowledgeable friend when it comes to tile and flooring styles whose
name is
Desiree that works at Prestige Flooring on Old Jefferson Hwy. This store
has a
wide selection of flooring materials and Desiree is more than willing to
help you pick out the tile style most suited to your wants or pocket
book. Stop by and tell her 'Hi'!
Installation of laminate flooring is a quick way to transform the looks of any room. These are a few things that I do or recommend when installing this type of flooring.
Know your style of laminate flooring that you want to have installed before we meet. This is the first step in the right direction.

Cracks in the concrete are filled and really shallow areas are leveled out.
I highly recommend installing a 'quiet step' floor pad with a vapor barrier backing, especially on concrete if the flooring doesn't include this feature built on. A vapor barrier is always used to block moisture from the laminate flooring.
Floating laminate floors require an expansion joint as required per the flooring's requirements found on the box. This will influence the direction that the panels are laid.
Door casings are undercut to allow for flooring material to pass underneath it.
All wall openings and walk thrus will require a transition plate.
1/2" quarter round trim that matches the flooring decor is used at the wall baseboards to hide the edges. Quarter rounds and transition plates that match the flooring are available from the manufacturer.
When you know what laminate flooring material that you will be possibly using, call me to schedule a home visit so we can measure the floor to figure out your material list.
